KLF’s Tarah Caldwell hits the road

July 27, 2010

While most high school graduates are moving into their dorm rooms this August, former Knoxville Leadership Foundation Crew member and Bearden High School graduate Tarah Caldwell, 19, will be packing her things on to a bus.

As one of Silver Ring Thing’s newest tour team members, Tarah and 12 other team members will travel coast-to-coast for the next nine months to encourage young people across America to embrace Christ-centered abstinence until marriage.

“God has called me to live a life or purity,” said Tarah. “It’s very important for me to get that message out there to students.”

Tarah first got involved with Silver Ring Thing in 6th grade when she attended the annual event hosted by KLF. When she heard that Silver Ring Thing was creating a team in Knoxville through KLF, Tarah jumped on the opportunity to spread the message of sexual abstinence to schools across the area.

“Tarah has always been a great leader—she’s wonderful,” said Abstinence Initiative Administrative Assistant Alisha Shipley, who worked with Tarah during her time with Crew.

Through her involvement with KLF, Tarah admits to falling in love with the program in Knoxville, which allowed her to make connections at the Silver Ring Thing headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.

After interning twice at the Silver Ring Thing headquarters, Tarah committed nine months of her life to the program after being offered a spot on the national tour team.

“Three things that we saw in Tarah were her faithfulness, her love for the ministry and her love for the Lord,” said Silver Ring Thing tour manager Missy Patton.

Knoxville Leadership Foundation wishes Tarah the best of luck as she delivers her home-grown values to a national audience this year.
