Charlee and I

August 25, 2009

2009 Mentee Writing Contest Winner – Tyshanna Bell Charlee and I My favorite activity that I have spent with Charlee is ice skating at the ice chalet. It was my favorite because I love to try new things and take risks. Surprisingly, neither I nor Charlee fell on the ice. Ice skating was our first outing and we really got to know each other. Charlee is really nice and informs me about college and the challenges. She has also taught me so many things about being healthy and eating the right things. She is a great influence because she is a doctor of philosophy, material science, and engineering. I want to be just like her and be a successful citizen of America. Charlee takes me out almost every week even if it’s just Bible study at her church. Charlee still makes time out of her busy schedule to spend time with me. Though, if we can’t go on an outing she calls me to see how I am and what I did that week. One time Charlee and I went to the Dogwood Arts Festival. On our way to the ATM, to get some cash, she told me all about debit and credit cards. We saw a lot of beautiful artwork. She bought me a necklace and a shirt from a gently used second hand shop. We ate soft serve from Rita’s. It was really fun. Thank you Amachi for blessing me with Charlee as my mentor.
