Nonprofit Organizations Receive FREE
Capacity Building Services

Nonprofit organizations (NPOs) need more than funding, volunteers and a passionate mission.  They need strong strategic plans, marketing plans, fiscal systems and other internal plans/systems to efficiently and effectively reach their target.  Knoxville Leadership Foundation’s Center for Communities partners with NPOs to deliver individualized plans to improve capacity through one-on-one coaching, specialized consultants and training opportunities.

We are very excited to except the next group of 20 nonprofit organizations into the Center for Communities.  The application deadline is November 5, 2009.  Applications can be picked up at one of two informational meeting that will be from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Cherokee Health System (2018 Western Avenue, 37921) on either October 27th or 29th.  Call (865) 524-2774 to RSVP or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to register to attend.

For the past seven years, KLF has worked with over 100 organizations to deliver this needed service FREE to community- and faith-based nonprofit organizations.  We are looking for NPOs that work with low-income individuals to help them secure and retain employment and earn higher wages.  These NPOs must have a budget under $500,000 and can work with varied service populations such as homeless, at-risk youth, families in transition from welfare to work, addicts, prisoners and others who are on the margins.

NPOs accepted into this program are committing to a two-year intensive program.  The training focuses on five areas of capacity building: Leadership Development, Organizational Development, Program Development, Program Evaluation and Collaboration/Community Engagement.  Organizations participate in monthly hands-on technical assistance that focuses around these five areas.  There are also large group training sessions that will be open to all community organizations.

KLF is a faith-based organization that believes our city can be transformed through reconciliation. Reconciliation occurs when people from different communities and walks of life roll up their sleeves, work side-by-side and really begin to understand and appreciate each other. This is what our programs do: they bring people together to work on targeted problems in our city that put people at serious risk. Our programs are effectively and efficiently staffed and managed. All folks have to do is plug in, join in and watch transformation happen.
