Operation Backyard provides free home repair services for low-income homeowners in Knoxville. As a program of KLF, Operation Backyard works to strengthen the very fabric of our community by joining those in need with the materials and volunteers that can make a difference.
This mission project allows students in the 7th – 12th grades to spend a week serving God by serving those in need in their own backyard. Building materials are provided and groups bring their own tools. Operation Backyard provides meals, lodging and programming. Students are housed within the inner-city neighborhoods they are serving, camping in a church. They gather each evening for fun, worship and to share their experiences. Area churches support the work of their youth participating in Operation Backyard by providing adult leaders at the work site, daily transportation and lunches.
